About the event
Participants attend one full-day, in-person workshop designed to build kaiako and leaders’ confidence and professional capability to use AI as a supportive tool in early childhood settings, while maintaining a strong foundation of relationships, ethics, and professional judgement.
This workshop explores how AI can be used in ways that are child-centred, culturally grounded, and aligned with Te Whāriki, supporting intentional teaching, reflective practice, and meaningful learning-focused documentation. Participants will engage with practical examples that connect AI use to the strands and principles of Te Whāriki, ensuring that AI supports responsive interactions, observation, and curriculum design.
Format includes:
Interactive demonstrations of AI tools relevant to ECE contexts, with clear guidance on what to use and what to avoid
Practical, ready-to-use examples for planning, learning stories, documentation, and whānau communication, aligned to Te Whāriki outcomes and language
Step-by-step tips and guidelines for writing prompts, checking AI outputs, and using AI ethically and professionally
