Our Facilitation Team

Your school will work with a national team of highly experienced facilitators, evaluators, and assessment specialists. Our facilitators bring postgraduate expertise in Assessment for Learning, evidence-informed practice, Science of Learning, Structured Literacy, and leadership capability building. Collectively, they have delivered 50+ assessment-focused PLD projects, supported thousands of teachers, and contributed to major national initiatives including SELO, Structured Literacy Approaches, Enriching Local Curriculum, and RAPLD Assessment PLD.

About the PD

Our Assessment PLD strengthens schoolwide assessment capability so teachers and leaders can make confident, evidence-informed decisions that accelerate learning.

Grounded in Assessment for Learning, the Science of Learning, and aligned with Te Mātaiaho and current Ministry priorities, our programme helps schools build clarity, consistency, and high-impact practice across classrooms.

Across every partnership, we begin with your data, your context, and your priorities. We work alongside leaders and teachers to co-design an approach that builds assessment literacy, develops robust systems, and ensures quality evidence is used to improve teaching and learning. Our facilitators bring extensive experience across RAPLD projects, Assessment for Learning, Structured Literacy Approaches, Visible Learning, and the implementation of national assessment tools and progressions.

Fully-funded MoE Assessment & Aromatawai PLD 

  • Each school receives a tailored sequence of on-site support designed to build sustainable, high-impact practice.

     

    Across the year, PLD days may include:

    • Baseline evidence gathering, including data, voice, and capability rubrics

    • Co-constructed Theory of Change and action planning

    • Practical workshops on Assessment for Learning, clarity tools, feedback, learner agency, and effective use of data

    • Classroom modelling, co-teaching, walkthroughs, and practice analysis conversations

    • Moderation of student work and analysis of progress patterns

    • Leadership coaching for senior and team leaders

    • System strengthening: schedules, expectations, and assessment processes that support consistency and quality

  • Schools participate in a series of facilitated Communities of Practice (CoPs) that foster collective expertise, shared expectations, and consistent practice across teams. CoPs provide opportunities for:

    • Collaborative inquiry using real school data and artefacts

    • Moderation across levels and teams

    • Joint problem-solving and evaluative thinking

    • Reflective discussions on impact and shifts in practice

    • Strengthening alignment between curriculum, learning progressions, and assessment tools

     

    These sessions ensure that teachers and leaders build a shared language of quality teaching and learning, and that progress is visible and understood across the school.

  • Our PLD includes access to a full set of purpose-built tools, rubrics, and digital resources designed by the Coactive Design Team. These support schools to implement consistent, high-quality assessment systems.

    Resources include:

    • Teacher and leader capability rubrics

    • Assessment for Learning tools (learning intentions, success criteria, feedback frameworks)

    • Data analysis templates

    • Moderation tools and exemplars

    • Walkthrough and observation frameworks
