About the event
About the Workshop
Strong partnerships with whānau are central to high-quality early childhood education and are a key focus within the Teaching Council Standards (C12 & C13). This workshop supports kaiako to deepen authentic, respectful relationships with families by exploring communication practices that foster trust, connection, and shared understanding. Participants will reflect on how whakawhanaungatanga can strengthen relationships and create a foundation for genuine collaboration in learning.
Through practical discussion and reflective activities, kaiako will explore strategies for engaging whānau in meaningful ways, ensuring that family voice, culture, and knowledge are valued within the learning environment. The session also focuses on collaborative decision-making and culturally responsive practices that recognise whānau as partners in children’s learning journeys. Participants will leave with practical approaches that support inclusive, respectful, and sustainable partnerships.
