About the event

Navigating Serious Incidents: Legal Responsibilities and Best Practices

This fully funded online workshop supports ECE kaiako and leaders to feel confident and prepared when responding to serious incidents and emergencies. You’ll learn how to act promptly and appropriately in high-pressure situations to ensure the safety and wellbeing of tamariki.

Gain practical skills to create a safe and responsive learning environment, minimise risks, and provide immediate support to children during and after incidents. The session will also unpack how to build strong, collaborative relationships with key agencies such as the Ministry of Education, WorkSafe, and Oranga Tamariki.

You’ll develop a clear understanding of the legal requirements around notifying agencies in the case of serious injury, illness, or concerning incidents. The workshop also builds confidence in your reporting and documentation skills, ensuring compliance with regulation HS34.

Walk away equipped to respond with clarity, care, and confidence when it matters most.
