About the event

In this interactive and practical workshop, participants will unpack the Early Literacy and Oral Language area of Kōwhiti Whakapae. We will explore three elements of early literacy (oral language, early phonemic awareness and print knowledge and preparing to write) and ways to engage Tamariki with these important skills.

Learning outcomes:

  • Unpacking the oral language and literacy resources of Kōwhiti Whakapae - Understand the elements of early literacy and what this looks like in an early childhood setting

  • How to plan for early literacy practices in a Tamariki lead learning setting

  • How to observe and notice early literacy progress and how to plan for next steps.
