Strengthening Literacy Foundations in Years 0-3
This one-day online professional learning and development (PLD) event focuses on ensuring all learners establish strong literacy foundations to successfully access Phase 1 of the teaching sequence. Designed for educators working with Years 0-3, this session will explore evidence-based strategies for phonics, handwriting, spelling, and cross-curricular literacy integration.
Key areas of focus include:
Constrained Skills Development – Reviewing the phonics scope and sequence, deepening understanding of morphology, and identifying gaps in decoding and spelling to plan explicit whole-class and targeted teaching.
Handwriting and Motor Skill Development – Exploring the importance of fine motor skills, effective letter formation techniques, and handwriting assessment to support writing fluency.
