About the event
About the Workshop
Emergency preparedness is essential in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of tamariki and kaiako. This workshop supports early childhood teams to strengthen their understanding of emergency drill requirements under HS8 and how these can be embedded meaningfully within everyday service practice. Participants will explore how emergency drills can move beyond a compliance exercise to become purposeful learning opportunities that build confidence and readiness within the teaching team.
Through discussion and practical examples, participants will examine systems for planning, documenting, and evaluating emergency drills. The workshop will focus on creating clear procedures that ensure all staff understand their roles and responsibilities during emergencies. Participants will also consider how reviewing and reflecting on drills can inform annual emergency planning and continuous improvement of safety practices within their service.
