About the event
About the Workshop
Creating a safe and healthy learning environment is a fundamental responsibility in early childhood education. This practical workshop supports kaiako and leaders to strengthen their understanding of hazard identification and risk management in alignment with licensing criteria HS1 and HS12. Participants will explore how effective safety systems protect tamariki while supporting a proactive approach to maintaining safe and hygienic environments.
Through guided discussion and practical examples, this session walks participants through daily safety checking processes and the systems that support ongoing monitoring of hazards. Kaiako will explore strategies for identifying risks early, responding effectively, and ensuring documentation clearly demonstrates compliance with licensing requirements. The workshop also focuses on strengthening confidence in evaluating safety practices so that environments remain responsive, well maintained, and supportive of children’s wellbeing.
