About the event

About the Workshop

Excursions offer rich opportunities for exploration, connection, and learning beyond the early childhood environment. This workshop supports kaiako and leaders to strengthen their understanding of the licensing and regulatory requirements that guide safe excursions. Participants will unpack key Health and Safety standards (HS17, HS18, and HS25), gaining clarity about expectations around supervision, risk management, and documentation.

Through practical discussion and real-world examples, participants will explore how to plan and manage excursions confidently while ensuring tamariki remain safe and well supported. The workshop will focus on building systems that make excursion planning clear, organised, and manageable for teaching teams. Participants will leave with practical tools and strategies to strengthen risk assessment processes, maintain appropriate ratios, and ensure excursion approval processes are well understood and consistently applied.
