About the event
This Oral Language and Early Literacy workshop empowers ECE educators to understand the vital connection between oral language development and literacy outcomes. Grounded in current research, it explores why oral language matters, how it supports tamariki reading and writing success, and the neuroscience behind literacy acquisition. Participants will gain practical strategies for fostering communication-rich learning environments and integrating the Te Kōrerorero – Talking Together resource into their practice. The workshop also focuses on planning, implementing, and assessing oral language progress, equipping kaiako to nurture tamariki’s communication skills while enhancing their own reflective teaching practices.
