About the event
About the Workshop
Internal evaluation is a powerful tool for strengthening teaching practice and improving learning outcomes for tamariki. In this workshop, leaders and kaiako will explore how internal evaluation can be used to deepen understanding of early literacy development within their service. Participants will examine how everyday teaching practises, assessment documentation, and learning environments contribute to children’s literacy experiences, and how these can be evaluated to support continuous improvement.
Through guided reflection and practical examples, participants will learn how to gather and analyse meaningful evidence of practice. The session will focus on identifying indicators of literacy progression, strengthening assessment documentation, and using evaluation findings to inform intentional curriculum decisions. Participants will also explore how internal evaluation aligns with Licensing Criteria and supports effective implementation of Te Whāriki, ensuring literacy learning is purposeful, visible, and responsive.
