About the event

DAY TWO OF THREE

This professional learning and development (PLD) event builds on foundational knowledge of Structured Literacy, focusing on developing strong literacy foundations through oral language, effective reading and writing practices, and formative assessment. Participants will explore strategies for explicitly teaching and integrating communication skills, vocabulary, grammar, and self-regulation to support literacy development.

The session will cover key areas of effective literacy instruction, including:

  • Oral Language Development – Supporting learners in communicating ideas, interpersonal communication, and vocabulary development.

  • Formative Assessment in Literacy – Identifying learner strengths and needs, monitoring progress, and using data to inform planning.

  • Effective Reading Practice – Supporting decoding with decodable texts, developing fluency, and strengthening comprehension skills.
